Other Ways That You Can Support Us
Second Hand Uniforms
The PTA sells second hand uniforms. These are available to view by appointment. Please contact Karyn Gouder in the office for more information. If you have uniforms in good condition that you no longer require we would very much appreciate these. Tunics would be appreciated no matter what condition they are in as their material can be used to make hair ties. You may hand them into the school office.
www.lunchonline.co.nz - select a yummy lunch from the online menu and have it delivered fresh to school on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Orders for that day close at 9am in the morning.
The Warehouse – School Tex Uniforms
The Warehouse donates a portion of profits from all uniforms purchased through them back to the schools, so please don't forget to mention us when purchasing from them. Or if you purchase online through www.schooltex.co.nz please mention our school. Thank you.
Yummy Fruit Company
Collect the Yummy cut-out labels from bags (each cut-out label is worth 10 stickers) and individual Yummy apple stickers for your school's share of the $200,000 free DG Sport sports gear prize pool. Yummy apples are available from New World, Pak 'n Save and participating Four Square stores. The more you collect, the more sports gear you get so get going and start collecting your Yummy cut-out labels and stickers now!
Please ask the office for your take home sticker sheet (and maybe one for family, friends and the workplace) so that you can start saving them up for us. Thank you.
Who Are We?
The Reignier Catholic School PTA serves the staff and families of Reignier Catholic School. Thanks to the voluntary involvement of parents within our community we are able to provide people and resources to get jobs done and implement fundraising to support the needs of the school as it grows and changes.
To reach their full potential, children need their families to take an active role in their education. Whilst there are many ways of getting engaged in school life, involvement with the Reignier PTA is one valuable way you can play a positive part in your child's school journey.
The Reignier PTA works in partnership with our Board of Trustees, primarily as the fundraising arm of the school. Funds generated from PTA organised activities, often bridge the gap between the need-to-have and thenice-to-have resources in and around the school. The PTA also plays a key role in providing a social link between home and school and we hope to do that this year with one or two events just for parents. If you are new to Reignier or to Hawke's Bay, the PTA is a great way to meet people and establish new networks.
We are always on the lookout for exciting new fundraising initiatives or excuses to hold a social get-together so please let us know if you have any bright ideas to share.
Raising funds to provide improved facilities and opportunities for members of the School community
Foster co-operation and understanding between school and home
Organise social and educational activities for members
Liaise between the Board of Trustees, staff and parents
Enable parents and teachers to discuss trends in education, and the aims and activities of the school
Enlist the support of parents to contribute to the welfare and organisation of the school and the children attending
PTA Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: If you are on the PTA, do you have to:
- Help with the every fundraising event
- Attend every meeting
A: The answer is NO. There is nothing that you HAVE to do. The PTA is purely voluntary, which means you can do as little or as much as you wish and/or are able to do. We are all busy parents and while it would be great if we could all attend all events, we totally appreciate that life doesn't work like that.
Q: Do I need any special skills or previous experience to be part of the PTA?
A: No. Being a parent is more than enough!
How can you help?
There are two main ways that you can help. You can choose to officially join and have a specific role, or rather to become a much valued helper for with special events from time to time.
1. Join the PTA
The PTA always needs new and enthusiastic members. Come along to a meeting and find out how you can get involved. Not only will you be helping out our school but being a part of the PTA is a wonderful way to get to know the families within your community.
2. Become a Friend of the PTA
Being a friend of the PTA means you don't have to commit to coming to meetings but you will be kept informed about what is going on and will be able to volunteer to help on an ad hoc basis with special events. Please firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be added to our "Friends of the PTA' database and be kept informed.
Our friendly and informal meetings are held monthly (usually on a Tuesday) from 7.00pm until no later than 8:30pm. We meet in the School Staffroom where we organise events and facilitate the smooth running of PTA initiatives. Keep an eye out for meeting times on this website, in the newsletter and on facebook.
Julia Johnson, the principal, comes along to meetings, as does a staff representative on occasions. Julia gives an informal report about happenings and areas she believes the PTA could assist. This gives you a lot of 'behind the scenes' information about our school plus insight into what is coming up of interest to parents.
Please come and join us, we are sure you will enjoy meeting other like minded parents and gain further information on what's happening in and around the school. The PTA would not exist without the active involvement of parents from within our school community. Everyone is always welcome and we are always looking for new fresh ideas.
A copy of our most recent minutes can be found on our PTA notice board near the hall. A copy of previous minutes can accessed via the "Meeting Minutes" tab on this page.
