General Information

I was born and raised in Zimbabwe where I taught for 20 years before I came to beautiful New Zealand seventeen years ago. I was so fortunate to get a position at Reignier Catholic School, primarily in the Senior Team but later I moved down to the New Entrants, where I have been for the last fourteen years.
I absolutely love teaching the youngest children in the school. Every day is an adventure.
I am responsible for the school's music programme and enjoy working with the talented children in the choir and various music groups we offer. I love working with Erin Smith on the bi-annual musicals.
My hobbies are gardening, biking the beautiful Hawkes Bay trails and reading.

I am thrilled to have started my teaching career at Reignier. I love sharing my passion for education with our students and the great staff at this school. I particularly enjoy teaching literacy, ICT and all sports including dance and gymnastics. I like to spend my time with friends and family and on the weekends I play netball, get outdoors for exercise or head to the beach when it is warm.

General Information

Hi there and welcome to Reignier! My name is Lara Hollier and I am a
Reading Recovery teacher. I have been teaching part-time at Reignier
for 4 years and I love it!!! My three children have all been through
Reignier and I am also a past pupil!
Reading recovery is an early intervention programme for children
performing at a low level in reading and writing. Children have a
daily half hour 1-1 lesson for up to 20 weeks. The programme begins
with a comprehensive diagnostic test, which is analysed, and an
individual programme is devised accordingly. It is always rewarding to
see the progress these children make, and see them return to the
classroom and continue to achieve.
